My Background
Thank you for taking the time to visit my site. I hope you can find the information that you need here and that I may be able to go on to help to support you or your child.

Though being born in Wigan, Lancashire, and having lived a large part of my life in Somerset, my wife and I now live in Radcliffe on Trent, Nottinghamshire. This means that my face to face tutoring is confined to the Nottingham area. I offer sessions to students studying maths, and physics to A Level and science to GCSE. Adults studying for vocational reasons are also very welcome.
Teaching combines an interest in the subject with a concern for the young person’s all-round development as an individual. For me, motivation to work with teenagers has come from knowing that achievement in your subject not only provides a boost to self-esteem, but also opens up further education and career prospects.
My teaching career has spanned 27 years, teaching in three large secondary schools in Somerset and Wiltshire. Having studied Physics at the University of Leeds, my first subject was Physics/Science which I taught for 19 years (including 10 years as Head of Physics). I progressed in later years, to also teach ICT and led the growing ICT curriculum as Head of ICT. This led to five years of working with the Local Authority to help schools to develop ICT education. My final post before taking a break from teaching was as Head of Faculty (including ICT and Business Studies).

I’m enjoying the move from classroom teaching to one-to-one tutoring and having the opportunity to provide the dedicated personal attention that we often need to make confident and rapid progress.
